CHALLENGE
Acknowledge the staff members who deliver DEI work in the community. Provide awards to DEI staff for their milestone accomplishments in the Keystone Region. Create a unique employee appreciation event that provides an authentic Hip Hop experience in the Steel City.
STRATEGY
Created a 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop Themed DEI & ERG Event in Pittsburgh, PA to celebrate the work of the DEI staff throughout the Keystone Region. This 3-hour private event included a mix and mingle hour, step and repeat photo capture, acknowledgments and award ceremony, a Hip Hop Trivia Quiz and music from NYC’s Resident Superhero DJ Jon Quick of 94.7 The Block, New York’s #1 for Throwbacks! The event was moderated by Pittsburgh based attorney and podcast host Frank Walker, Esq. The keynote speaker was Detroit based Maceo Owens, known as the The ERG Homegirl. The event promoted the significance of a healthy work environment and the importance of employee appreciation throughout the organization.
RESULTS
- Approximately 100 attendees from throughout the Comcast Keystone Region.
- Over 100K combined social media impressions were generated for Comcast.
- Shared event content and messaging on all Outspoken Media Group related social media platforms, which created engagement internally and externally for Comcast.
- Comcast employees were gifted with an exclusive playlist curated by DJ Jon Quick.
- Highlighted Comcast’s commitment to working with Black owned and operated businesses such as Outspoken Media Group.
- Attendees were given a history lesson about Hip Hop from its inception in the Bronx, NY.
- Paid homage to the positive impact Hip Hop has made in underserved communities throughout Pennsylvania.
